This week's challenge for
Project Run and Play is the movies. I really wasn't sure what to make, there are so many great dresses to be inspired by. My inspiration ended up coming from my fabric.
I have been trying to use only fabric I have on hand for all of the PR&P challenges. A few days ago my mom gave me a blue maxi dress made of very light-weight blue voile. The material reminded me of the "reaping day" dress from The Hunger Games.
I used the
Ayashe pattern by
Figgy's for the top of the dress, added some elastic thread smocking and finally an a-line skirt to turn into a dress. Then added for elastic thread around the waist to give it more shape.
I felt a little weird making a dress from one of the most depressing parts of the movie. My little "Katniss"was in much better spirits in her comfy new dress than her movie counter-part.
I've never seen the movie, but the dress you made turned out really nice ~ lovely blue :)
